v1.2 Released!


Hello again!

It's been 2 months since v1.1 released. Since v1.1 didn't have very much to it besides bug fixes and adding saving, I've decided to release an update that is full of new content! Before we get into this, I must say that seed-based randomly-generated levels are not here YET. That will be for v1.3! For now, enjoy!


Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed bug in Build mode where the cursor would become a placable tile due to a timing issue
    • These glitched objects still exist if you play an old save file, but in v1.3, I may change them to display different graphics
  • Birds no longer spawn below surface level (or Y: 0)
  • Fixed a bug where backpacks could be placed in Build mode
    • These glitched objects still exist if you play an old save file, these will not be altered in future versions
  • The player's gravity will no longer reset to 0 when they fall too fast
    • Gravity is still reset when the player swims up too fast
  • Empty save data can no longer be loaded or saved
  • Fixed bug where the pause menu could not be cancelled (by pressing A)

Changes/Additions:

  • Campfires now degrade over time
  • You can now place a tile on a water tile to delete the water
  • You can now select through menus with the up and down controls
  • Temperature goes down quicker at night
  • Temperature decreases less in water
  • "Fire" is now a functional object
    • It provides the same amount of heat as a campfire, and it can be put out by interacting with it
  • Opening the pause menu no longer requires holding
  • Added splash text for saving
  • Tool wheel no longer requires holding START
    • Only press START to show/hide the tool wheel
  • You can now disable the ability to collect items by pressing A while the tool wheel is visible
    • When the backpack icon is shown, you can collect items just like normal, but when the "nothing" icon appears, you will not obtain anything. Trying to collect food or some resources while the "nothing" icon is blinking will only play a noise to indicate that it cannot be obtained, this makes it so you cannot accidentally delete some limited resources like food and wood
  • Changed the "nothing" and "unavailable" icon to be more visible (on tiles such as stone and logs)
  • Water can now flow (when the tile next to it is broken, it will flow horizontally)
  • Added style to the game over screen and settings menu
  • Adjusted design requirements
    • Reduced amount of oil needed for the engine and the radio
    • Less copper is needed for wires
    • Less plastic is needed for cups
    • More glass is needed for water purifiers
    • Oil is required for the oil barrel (I don't know how I missed this for like 3 months)
    • Added variation design for composted dirt
    • Some others have also been altered
  • The tile cursor in-game is now animated
  • Added sound effect "cancel"
    • Plays when returning to the main menu from other menus on the title screen
    • Plays when pressing A to hide the selection cursor
  • Added loading text that appears when moving between chunks (does not appear in Build mode since this mode keeps all chunks loaded at once)
  • Flammable objects will now catch on fire around open flames
    • This will not occur with coal torches
  • Added cave ambience
    • The "Stalagmite" track will now play and the background will turn dark when you enter a cave in any level
  • Bubbles have a different color to make them more visible on some backgrounds
  • New spawn places have been added to all pre-made regular levels
    • You can now spawn next to the stone beach in the Tropical level
    • You can now spawn just off the edge of the mountain in the Plateau level
    • You can now spawn in a small mine in the Caves level
  • Game now saves player status, pets, and more
  • Added details to bird health meter to show more expression
    • When your pet bird is at 45% health it will visually become weaker in the icon
    • When your pet bird is at 30% health it will show exclaimation marks in the icon 
  • Changed icon for freezing temperature
  • Taming a bird will put it in your backpack if your inventory is full
    • If you do not have your backpack equipped or your backpack is also full, the bird simply will not be tamed, just like before
